The Green Tick is a program that has been developed by Green Homes Australia in partnership with Skillset to educate and mentor businesses to a more sustainable and environmentally aware future. The program will begin in the first quarter of 2012 and you may register your interest in participating below.

What is The Green Tick?

The Green Tick is an initiative of Green Homes Australia, in partnership with Skillset, which aims to recognise and promote businesses that are committed to improving their operational efficiencies by implementing green policies and sustainable practices.


Who accredits The Green Tick?

The Green Tick is endorsed by Skillset, one of Australia's most respected training institutions and leaders in sustainability.

Skillset is developing training initiatives specifically designed to improve sustainable practice.  Skillset is constructing the Flannery Centre with a mission to inspire, lead and learn our way to a positive future.


Who can apply for The Green Tick?

Any business in the construction industry can apply for The Green Tick.


Why do you need The Green Tick?

The Green Tick is not 'green wash'.  It's a coaching process for organisations that are committed to the journey to become a more competitive, environmentally friendly and sustainable business.

The Green Tick allows your organisation to show your colleagues, your clients and your competitors that you are serious about a green and sustainable Australia.


How do you get The Green Tick?

Attaining The Green Tick doesn't mean you have to spend weeks away from your business filling in paperwork and ticking boxes. Skillset will assist you through the process because making a difference should become core business.

There are 5 steps you will go through to attain and retain The Green Tick:

  • When you apply for The Green Tick you will be contacted by a Green Homes Australia business specialist to help identify why you want The Green Tick and the changes you want to achieve by being part of the program.

  • Using one of the templates provided by Green Homes Australia, we will assist you to set your own targets for efficiency and help you find a way to achieve them.  This results in your own sustainability plan.

  • When you have completed your plan, SkillSet will work with you to determine how you are going to begin your journey.

  • 6 months into your journey with The Green Tick, a Green Homes Australia business specialist will contact you and see how things are progressing, help you overcome any stumbling blocks and give you advice on how you can keep on track to reaching your goals.

  • At the end of the year, you assess which targets you've met and whether you are ready to move to the next stage of The Green Tick journey.

Are there different levels of The Green Tick?

There four stages to The Green Tick:

  • Stage 1: Beginning your sustainability journey

  • Stage 2: Making a change

  • Stage 3: Ahead of the game

  • Stage 4: Sustainability leader
